Last November, to kick off #GivingTuesday and the holiday giving season, we announced an exciting nonprofit sweepstakes. The nonprofit to receive the most new favorites on eBay would receive a $25K grant, the second highest nonprofit would receive a $15K grant and a third grant of $10K would be awarded to a randomly selected nonprofit. Today, we’re excited to announce the winners of this holiday #GivingTuesday sweepstakes!
After receiving over 16K new favorites, the grand prize $25K grant goes to….the Karam Foundation! The Karam Foundation registered with eBay Giving Works in December, so they are brand new to the platform. How did they get 16K people to take this action and add them as a favorite cause on eBay? Their success lies in the hands of their devoted staff and supporters who made it their mission to win the $25K grant. With a steadfast group of volunteers, they reached out via social media to encourage friends and family to save Karam Foundation as a favorite cause on eBay. They also used social influencers to reach out via YouTube, providing short and easy videos of how to help. Karam Foundation plans to maintain their positive eBay momentum, because later this year they will conduct their charity auction, Spring Cleaning for Syria. The Karam Foundation thanks the eBay community for their support: "The prize came just in time to send winter packages and heating oil across Syria. Many Syrian children will be warm this winter because of your generosity. Thank you eBay and much gratitude to our passionate and dedicated supporters who made this happen." You can learn more about the Karam Foundation here.
The second place $15K grant goes to North Shore Animal League America, who generated nearly 3K favorites. North Shore Animal League America has been part of the eBay community since 2009, and eBay supporters have always been passionate about helping them rescue, nurture and adopt homeless and orphaned pets into loving homes. They used email marketing and outreach to engage supporters and encourage them to favorite the cause on eBay.
The $10K grant was given to a randomly selected nonprofit. Congratulations to Wounded Warrior Project for winning the third prize. Wounded Warrior Project noted: “We are so grateful for the tremendous support of eBay and the entire eBay community. Know that these generous donations are fueling our 20 life-saving programs, which have a tremendous impact on the lives of injured veterans and their families.”
